I have uninstalled the SafeZone Browser but I've been left with a folder in my Program Files which is locked and I have not as yet found a way to get rid of it. I take the blame for that but I don't take the blame for this latest browser being foist upon me. I already have the Chrome browser because you did not make that an opt in and despite watching for such tricks it somehow or other sneaked past me during the installation of Avast as I now believe it was designed to do. Like most of the others in this thread I do NOT appreciate Avast installing something on my PC without asking my permission first – AND DON'T TELL ME ABOUT THE EULA I SIGNED UP TO – I think what you have done is a colossal breach of trust on YOUR part.

To top it all off we have someone here in the thread speaking for Avast feigning surprise and disbelief at the ingratitude and negative reaction whilst holding up an EULA (which they know very few people ever read) as justification for BS behavior implying that it's our fault for installing their software in the first place. Once that was finally sorted out, I am now greeted with the task of getting rid of broken "open with" context menus for the now-deleted safezone browser, followed by registry cleanup of crap left behind following the shoddy uninstall process! Can't thank you enough! The only time that has ever occurred on this system. Turns out my home network was no longer being detected properly and something had modified or corrupted the DHCP settings. Next, I perform the required reboot after getting rid of safezone and following an unusually long boot-up, I notice that I've no internet connectivity.
Avast safezone update checker disabled how to#
Of course I had to google how to do that because it wasn't immediately obvious. So far it's resulted in an hour+ time wasted trying to fix problems introduced by a botched uninstallation of software I never asked for.Īfter seeing that safzone had been stealthily installed without any notice or input, I immediately got rid of it.
